Community Integration

Support to take part in community life: recreation, volunteering, clubs, and events.

Community Integration (CI) is support to take part in community life, including recreation, social clubs and events, and volunteering. Staff assist with access, transportation, and the coaching that makes getting out and taking part possible.

Activities are chosen around the individual's interests, such as a fitness class, a hobby club, a volunteer shift, or a regular outing. The goal is genuine participation, not a full schedule for its own sake.

CI also supports connection. Insight creates opportunities to engage with peers and to build relationships in the community, so independence does not mean isolation.

Who this service is for

Adults with developmental disabilities who want to be active in their community through recreation, clubs, volunteering, and events, and who want support building relationships with peers and neighbors.

Eligibility

Community Integration is provided through Missouri's Medicaid HCBS waivers, administered by the Department of Mental Health, Division of Developmental Disabilities. It requires a Division of DD eligibility determination, MO HealthNet (Medicaid) eligibility, and a support coordinator. If you already have a support coordinator, we can start there. If you do not, we can explain the steps.
