About us

Care built around you, not our convenience.

At Insight, we tailor each person's services to the right balance of care and assistance, and adjust as needs change. Whether someone prefers the outdoors, time at home, group activities, or quiet, we build support around how they actually want to live.

Our story

Started by two friends who wanted to do it better.

Insight was started by two childhood friends, both of whom have worked in the care industry: Alan Ware as a nursing home administrator, and Justin Strawn as a social worker and Director of an ISL agency.

Together they had seen and provided quality care inside “corporate” entities. Even as directors, they could only provide care and run their organizations under someone else's guidelines. They believed they could do better for both clients and staff under their own rules, so they founded Insight.

Today, Insight is a Missouri DMH-certified provider of Individualized Supported Living, Individualized Skill Development, Community Integration, and Personal Care Assistance, serving adults across the greater Kansas City area.

Justin Strawn

  • B.S. Criminal Justice, Park University
  • M.A. Human Resources, Webster University
  • Former QDDP & ISL Agency Director

Justin holds a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice from Park University and a Master's in Human Resources from Webster University. He began his career in social work at the Jackson County Children's Division, protecting the safety and welfare of children.

He later moved into the ISL industry, working as a QDDP and then Director of multiple ISL agencies. It was during his time as a director that his passion for providing quality care led him to want to start his own agency.

Justin believes every person, regardless of disability, deserves the same love he gives his own children. As an owner and director, he ensures that every client and staff member who walks through Insight's doors focuses on their strengths and finds a renewed sense of strength to meet life's challenges.
