For families & guardians
Getting started, made clear.
If you care for an adult with a developmental disability, here is how Insight's services work, who qualifies for the Missouri DMH waiver, and what to do next.
Getting started
Four steps to services
- 1
Reach out
Fill out the request form or call us. Tell us about the person and where things stand, including whether you already have a DMH support coordinator.
- 2
We talk
A member of our team calls you, usually within one business day, to learn the person's needs and answer your questions.
- 3
We review eligibility and fit
We go over Division of Developmental Disabilities eligibility, which services fit (ISL, ISD, CI, or PCA), and what a support plan could look like. We coordinate directly with your support coordinator.
- 4
Plan and start
Once the plan is authorized and funding is in place, we build the plan, assign a consistent staff team, and introduce them to the person.
Good to know
What is the Missouri DMH waiver?
Insight's services are funded through Missouri's Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waivers, administered by the Department of Mental Health (DMH), Division of Developmental Disabilities. Qualifying requires a Division of DD eligibility determination, MO HealthNet (Medicaid) eligibility, and a support coordinator who authorizes services.
Not sure where to start? We can explain the process or connect you with the Kansas City Regional Office (KCRO) of DMH.

Frequently asked questions
Insight's services are funded through Missouri's Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waivers. Eligibility requires a Division of Developmental Disabilities determination, MO HealthNet (Medicaid) eligibility, and a support coordinator. If you are not sure where the person stands, contact us and we can help you find out.
We can direct you to the Kansas City Regional Office (KCRO) of the Missouri Department of Mental Health to begin the eligibility and coordination process. If you already have a support coordinator, we work directly with them.
For individuals who qualify, services are billed to Missouri Medicaid through the DMH waiver rather than paid out of pocket. We can help you confirm what is covered for your situation.
It depends on the person's waiver and funding status. If funding is already in place, onboarding can often begin within a few weeks. If you are starting the DMH process from the beginning, eligibility and waiver enrollment take longer, and we can help you through it.
It depends on their goals. ISL supports living in their own home, ISD builds daily living skills, Community Integration supports getting out and taking part, and PCA provides personal care at home. We can help you sort out the right fit, and many people use more than one.
